THE BEASTS
Beyond the obvious
QB: Shaun Hill STL at SF – Gore out, 49ers go to the air.
QB: Tony Romo DAL at DEN – Broncos give up first two pass TD.
RB: Cedric Benson CIN at CLE – Benson bowls over the Browns.
RB: Steve Slaton OAK at HOU – Texans get back to basics, Slaton finally scores.
WR: Calvin Johnson DET at CHI - High scoring game, CJ breaks out.
WR: Justin Gage TEN at JAX - Titans need a spark, Jaguars rank 32nd against the pass.
TE: Owen Daniels HOU vs. OAK - Goes from steady to Stud.
PK: John Carney NO vs. NYJ - JC gets lots of chances against a tough Jets D.
D/ST: Bengals at Browns - These Cats can get after the QB.
THE BUSTS
Studs turn to Duds
QB: Tom Brady NE vs. BAL - Receivers are hurting, facing tough D.
QB: Joe Flacco BAL at NE - Comes back to earth in a defensive battle.
RB: Kevin Smith DET at CHI - Bad shoulder, Lions air it out coming from behind.
RB: Steven Jackson STL at SF - 49ers held Adrian Peterson to 11.9 FP last week.
WR: Santonio Holmes PIT vs. SD - Steelers struggling, spread the ball around.
WR: Donald Driver GB at MIN - Double D cools down after a hot start.
TE: John Carlson SEA vs. IND - Carlson’s collapse continues on the road.
PK: Robbie Gould CHI vs. DET - Four extra points, one field goal.
D/ST: Broncos vs. Cowboys - This is not CIN, CLE or OAK.
SLEEPERS:
QB: David Garrard JAX vs. TEN - Titans have been torched through the air all year.
RB Glenn Coffee SF vs. STL - This is the Rams, not the Vikings
RB Tashard Choice DAL at DEN - Only healthy RB, Denver D finally gets tested.
WR: Mike Sims-Walker JAX vs TEN - Has emerged as the go to guy in Jacksonville.
WR: Chad Ochocinco CIN vs. CLE - Shows flashes of old.
TE: Todd Heap BAL at NE - Ravens play ball control and keep things simple.
PK: Shaun Suisham WAS vs. TB - SS gets a lot of chances against the horrible Bucs D.
D/ST: Redskins vs. Buccaneers - Redskins take last weeks frustration out on the Bucs.
FANTASY FACTS:
Bills WR Terrell Owens is officially a Fantasy Bust after he failed to catch a pass for the first time in 186 starts over 14 seasons. He now has 22.10 FP over three weeks. How long will it be before Mount Owens erupts with frustration?
The Broncos are 3-0. We wouldn’t rush out and hook our Fantasy wagon to them though. Their next five games are vs. DAL, vs. NE, at SD, at BAL and vs. PIT.
Eagles QB Kevin Kolb had 50 FP in his first two career starts filling in for Donovan McNabb With the Eagles on their Bye this week, those point producing days are probably over. McNabb is expected back for Week Five for their home date against the hapless Bucs.
After posting 55.4 points in Week Two Titans RB Chris Johnson came back down to earth with 11.5 points in Week Three. The 7.8 and 11.5 point efforts sandwiching the 55.4 points has got to be a cause for concern.
Pierre Thomas returned to the Saints backfield and was a one-man wrecking crew on the ground in Week Three. QB Drew Brees just had to manage the game and he ended up as the leagues 27th ranked QB with just 9.4 Fantasy points. The drought won’t last long though.
Willis McGahee is 4th in RB scoring with 65.1 FP. Only Chris Johnson (74.7), Maurice Jones-Drew (72.3) and Adrian Peterson (72.3) have scored more. Don’t expect that trend to continue starting this week.
RB Matt Forte, Clinton Portis, Brian Westbrook, Steve Slaton and Michael Turner have a combined 151.40 FP through three weeks. In 2008 they had a combined 259.8 FP through three weeks
Quarterbacks have dominated through three weeks. 14 QB make the top 30 with 882.95 FP. Seven RB have 463.80 FP, seven WR have 408.00 FP and two TE have 117.60 FP. Just another reason to wait on your QB on Draft Day.
In nine career starts against the 49ers, Rams RB Steven Jackson has 962 totals yards but just three touchdowns.
RB DeAngelo Williams started 2008 with 19.9 FP in three games and finished with 307.9 FP. This year he has 47.4 FP in three games but will be lucky to top 250 FP for the season.
Be careful starting Bills RB Fred Jackson moving forward. His FP totals have dropped from 25 to 24 to 13 weekly and RB Marshawn Lynch returns from his three-game suspension this weekend.
49ers Rookie RB Glen Coffee gained 2.2 yards per carry filling in for Frank Gore (out 3 weeks) last week against the Vikings. Expect much better numbers against the Rams this weekend.
In three career games against the Seahawks, QB Peyton Manning has just two TD passes. That will change this weekend.
Bye Weeks are upon us! The Cardinals, Falcons, Panthers and Eagles are all off this week.
FANTASY FACTOR:
Last week we said we needed to get back on a roll with the Fantasy Factor and did we ever! We went 13-3 and boosted our overall record to 35. If you are playing the money line you need to check out the Fantasy Factor. Our Excellent and Middle Bets stand at 30-6. Stay away from the Bad Bets as they stand at just 5-7.
A mismatch of Fantasy Beasts versus Fantasy Busts goes a long way to deciding the outcome of NFL games. If you wager on the outcome of games, you need to consider the Fantasy Factor.
B: Bad Bet: These are not good games to select a winner from based on the Fantasy Factor. You should stay away from these games.
M: Middle Bet: These are decent games to select a winner from based on the Fantasy Factor. You should still consider all the facts before picking from these games.
E: Excellent Bet: These are excellent games to select a winner from based on the Fantasy Factor. Load up and enjoy!!!
